why the Eighth?

well the first gathering at the Giants Ring for Tara was in respose to a call from Tarawatch for an International day for Tara

have no idea why they chose this date but it was a good day and a few of us gathered there again this year - and will again next year too ; )

but also , since then other conections with 8 have been turning up

The analemma
and the infinity symbol

If you photographed the sun once a week at the same time of day for an entire year, you would have a photo of the analemma, the sun's apparent path on the sky over the course of a year. Could this be where the ancient infinity symbol or even the ouroboros actually comes from?

http://sites.google.com/site/earthdeception/sunsorbit

it is only on Earth that the analemma is in the shape of an 8 - from the other planets it is a sort of loop

....or so they say ...

Now, my favorite part of this number, is that if one lays an 8 down on its side, it becomes the infinity symbol! Denise Linn notes that while the meaning of symbols will vary drastically from culture to culture, in general, this is regarded as an extremely powerful and cosmic symbol overall, especially to use in your home. To introduce the energy of 8 in your home, she suggests that you walk through your house and make the sign of infinity in the air with your hands and see if it doesn't change the energy of your house drastically (Linn, p. 140) (OK, wait until you're alone then if you're worried some one's going to think you're bonkers!). Her caveat here is that to fully activate the power of symbols, you really do have to spend some time visualizing their form while at the same time focusing your intention for using the symbol. Linn says that "your connection with the symbol in this ways causes you to become a kind of channel whereby the energy and power of the symbol can glow through you to energize and enlighten your entire home and your life!" (p. 141 Sacred Space).

Symbol of Infinity
The Symbol of infinity on this design is impossible to plat in rope and shows no beginning or end based on interweaving figures of eight showing the forces of order and chaos, death and rebirth of the seasons and astronomical cycles that control all life and events on earth

The ancient scientific and spiritual wisdom that has shaped our past and still influences our future is part of a forgotten and often hidden system that reaches back beyond the current established religions, further than Ancient Egypt into an age where Mankind lived in harmony with Nature.

The work explains how a Star Cult was born of necessity,  leading to the concepts of a Sun God in Heaven that still exists in fragmented form today.
How did a scientific and spiritual instrument from the stone age become hidden and lost in our full view?

The answers are here:

The Book
The Golden Thread of Time
The Wheel Cross allows the navigation of the planet without a time piece, the discovery of Natures mathematics and the construction of ancient sacred buildings using astrology. The philosophy behind all the great religions rest within what the cross reveals.

Earth's Second Moon 5 kilometres wide and can't be seen with the naked eye, follows a starnge horse shoe orbit around the earth

More Moons Around Earth? Its Not So Loony

The 3-mile-wide (5-km) satellite, which takes 770 years to complete a horseshoe-shaped orbit around Earth, is called Cruithne and will remain in a suspended state around Earth for at least 5,000 years.

Cruithne, discovered in 1986, and then found in 1997 to have a highly eccentric orbit, cannot be seen by the naked eye, but scientists working at Queen Mary and Westfield College in London were intrigued enough with its peregrinations to come up with mathematical models to describe its path.

Earth has a second moon, of sorts, and could have many others, according to three astronomers who did calculations to describe orbital motions at gravitational balance points in space that temporarily pull asteroids into bizarre orbits near our planet.

Lissajous figures
To Australians, the Lissajous figure (or one of them, at least) is familiar as the logo of the ABC. Lissajous figures arise when two simple harmonic motions interact at right angles to each other, so long as the periods of the two motions are in a simple mathematical relationship, such as 3:2.

This is the simplest way to generate these figures, just by having a cup which dribbles sand, suspended as shown in the diagram.

Jules Antoine Lissajous (1822-1880)

Jules Lissajous, a French physicist and mathematician, investigated the relationships of sound frequencies, waves, and vibrations. In 1850, his doctoral thesis was based on vibrating bars using Chladni's sand patterns and nodal theories. Lissajous began his experiments with sound waves and vibrations by using tuning forks in water and noting the ripple patterns from different applied frequencies.Jules Antoine Lissajous

Lissajous also developed a method for visualizing the waveforms created by vibrations. This optical method of capturing vibrations is represented in his well-known Lissajous Figures. These figures were created by reflecting a light beam from mirrors on two tuning forks vibrating at right angles. The images of these light beams as they reflected off the mirrors were captured on a screen.

Before the onset of digital technology, Lissajous Figures were used to represent the frequencies of sound waves in radio signals. This was accomplished by observing the pattern a signal of unknown frequency created when it was combined with a signal of known frequency.

Oscilloscope displays, showing the ratios of two or more frequency signals in horizontal and vertical axes, are visual examples of Lissajous Figures, represented by repetitive oscillatory motions containing the two perpendicular directions of different frequencies. The resulting paths of the oscilloscope waveforms depend on the ratio of frequencies and the phase difference.

In 1873, Jules Antoine Lissajous was awarded the Lacaze Prize for his scientific contributions to our understanding of sound.[2]

Sun Induces Strange 'Breathing' of Earth's Atmosphere By Alexis Madrigal EmailDecember 15, 2008 | 7:17:42 PMCategories: AGU 2008, Climate

SAN FRANCISCO — New satellite observations have revealed a previously unknown rhythmic expansion and contraction of Earth's atmosphere on a nine-day cycle.

This "breathing" corresponds to changes in the sun's magnetic fields as it completes rotations once every 27 days, NASA and University of Colorado, Boulder, scientists said Monday at the American Geophysical Union annual meeting.

The sun's coronal holes, seen as dark regions in the image above, direct plasma away from the sun and out into the solar system. When these particles get to the Earth, they heat the upper atmosphere, causing the outer atmosphere to expand and contract.

"What's going on in the solar side is indeed mysterious and challenges the solar physics understanding," said Stan Solomon, a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research who was not involved in the research.

The finding emphasizes the many ways that solar activity impacts the Earth — and its increasingly space-utilizing humans.

"From the Earth's perspective, we're in the sun's outer atmosphere," said Jeffrey Thayer, an aerospace engineer at UC-Boulder.

The new discovery could help scientists and engineers design better satellites that account for the changing conditions in the ionosphere. Eventually, it might be possible to predict the severity of ionospheric storms and protect the world's communication infrastructure.

The scientists used changes in the density of the Earth's atmosphere to pinpoint this previously unknown pattern. As the atmosphere contracts or expands, it also gets more or less dense, respectively. In response to the "hills and valleys of density," satellites subtly speed up or slow down, recording those motions with on-board accelerometers. And that's the data that allowed the scientists to back into the discovery of this new atmospheric cycle.

Solomon said that while the cycle on Earth is interesting, the really strange aspect of this work is what it says about our local star.

"What's going on in the sun that's causing all this?" Solomon said. "It's not entirely clear. That part of it is quite mysterious."
