Celtic New Year
by Samhain Fri 31 Oct 2008 10:14:25 AM CDT

"To the Celts, time was circular rather than linear. This is reflected in their commencing each day, and each festival, at dusk rather than dawn, a custom comparable with that of the Jewish Sabbath. It is also reflected in their year beginning with the festival of Samhain on 31 October, when nature appears to be dying down. Tellingly, the first month of the Celtic year is Samonios, ‘Seed Fall’: in other words, from death and darkness springs life and light."

at Tara - like last year but more low key , the flame is being lit at Tlachtga , the Hill of Ward

info about it here
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/89646

Debbie and Donchadh ( spelling ? ) asked all to it when they came to speak at the Black Box event
a map to the Vigil is on the index page of http://www.tarataratara.net/ ( tho the site badly needs updating - )
and the phone no is 00353861758557
all would be very welcome - and Id be going if I wasnt so arthritic - the Vigil folks are BRILLiant !

but it can be done anywhere

the idea of it is to light a bonfire -  wherever you are - from the Tara flame
which itself is brought from Tlachtga - the hill of ward    see http://www.iolfree.ie/~tlachtga/

- which is where the first flame is lit after all the fires have been extinguished on Samhain Eve
the flame is carried to Tara - and then sent out in five ( i need to check this - directions )

ideally you go and fetch the flame - or wait for a runner to bring it .......

or could just imagine that   ...anyway , it makes the timing of the lighting of the bonfire fairly flexible - as there is know knowing how fast the runner would be ; )

I dont know if anyone is organising anything here - Im not - go ahead !  it doesnt have to be a big thing - just puting the lights out for a while - then  lighting a flame
could be a social event - could just be done at home

anyway - thats the way it was done in the Old Times - its Traditional - also somehow seems a good idea now - it connects to the source and a load of lights coming out from the source to lighten the darkness - great !
thanks for asking
computer ate the last newsletter and I got disheartened - will give it another go - there is LOADS happening

regards
Anita

This place is dedicated to the sacred fire.  The Celts divided their year into two halves.  One begun on the first of May (Bealtinne).  While the other started on the First of November (Samhain).

It was here on the festival of Samhain that the sacred fire was kindled.  It was custom of the Druids to assemble on Tlachtga on the eve of Samhain and that a fire was lit on which offerings were made.  This was a prelude to the Feast of Tara.  When the High Kings looked west this evening they could see the kindling of the newly lit fires on Tlachtga (twelve miles away).  They knew then that all was well for another year.  The forces of death associated with winter were held at bay for another year.

All the fires in Ireland were quenched on this night and the men of Ireland were forbidden to relight them except from the fire of Tlachtga.  The lighting of the scared fire was a solemn and weird ritual.  This was the first day of winter and death was very close.  The Fairy mounds were open on this night and the inhabitants were abroad.  The spirits of the dead returned and appeared to men.  It was a night of confusion and disorder where the boundaries between the living and the dead were obliterated.  Man was powerless in the hands of fate.

LAST YEAR

Chain of Light and Great Banqueting Feast

Dear friends of Tara,

The following are details of upcoming events ...

Wed 31st Oct- 8pm CHAIN OF LIGHT

Beacons For Tara
Beacons For Tara

We will be lighting beacons at Tara and it's surrounding hills. Based on an Ancient custom we ask that people join us by lighting Beacons of Support on their nearest hill and watch the horizon for fires being lit hill to hill in response. Please light your beacons in fire pits, braziers or steel barrels up off the ground so as not to damage the Land.

Remember the Ancestors at this Samhain time especially those whose graves have been destroyed by the on going M3 construction through the Valley.

.................
Spread the word and have a lovely and Safe Halloween. Thank you.

12 Can Change The World......

Posted by: "dannyb0101" dannyb0101@yahoo.co.uk   dannyb0101

Thu Oct 30, 2008 3:03 pm

I am in the process of setting up a website at
http://www.12canchangetheworld.com and would like you all to spread
the word...

When I was speaking in Nevada earlier this year at the International
UFO Congress, I met legendary author Phyllis Schlemmer who wrote the
book "The Only Planet of Choice". Phyllis was the inspiration for her
friend Gene Rodenberry to write the Star Trek - Deep Space Nine
series, loosely based on her channeling of what she refers to as the
"council of nine".

Phyllis told me that the council of nine had told her that together 12
people alone can change the world, and convinced her to try this by
bringing together 12 people to divert space wreckage which at the tme
was due to fall on a populated area of Australia. The 12 got together
and used their combined energies to change its course of entry, and it
crashed into the sea causing no casualties.

I have decided to set up a new website which will appear soon at
www.12canchangetheworld.com and try to get some of the most
enlightened people in the world together to try to change the very
world around us. Phyllis Schlemmer is already on board.

We will be getting people to set up groups of 12 all over the world
and following the instructions from the website once live, and working
together to MAKE CHANGE HAPPEN!!

Now you may think I'm mad - but isn't it at least worth a try?

Last year, one woman set up a web site to open the earth grids and the
word went round like wildfire, and millions of people participated in
the event, which shows how word can spread on the Internet and how we
CAN bring a lot of people together to help things like this.

I would therefore ask that everyone who reads this, copies and pastes
it to all of your friends and contacts (no spamming though please) and
ask for their help and assistance in making this project happen.

I will be putting up a basic web page shortly and hopefully we will
get some financial assistance to help us publicise this and develop
the web presence, and once we have the first "12" in place, the work
can begin to make this planet a better and more peaceful place to live.

Tara is also clearly visible from Tlachtga and Tara is also associated with the celebration of Samhain. The Stone Age Mound of the Hostages is also aligned with the Samhain sun rise. The following image was photographed by Martin Dier, it shows the sunbeam illuninating the back of the chamber. The illumination is impaired by the modern gate at the entrance of the passage.

How we got George Bush

URGENT News Bulletin: 10/28/08

Melamine in US food supply - severe risk to children

Click here for details: Melamine contamination widespread

It's no secret -
the election was a fraud

George Bush has shredded the Constitution; bankrupted the country; blackened our reputation as a people; and lied us into an illegal, immoral, self-destructive military operation in Iraq.

And he was never elected president.

Not in 2000. Not in 2004.

And the news media, Congress, and the Democratic Party have never even attempted to do anything about it.

If you're living in America, that's the kind of country you're living in now.

It's not a question of when or if we'll lose our democracy, it's been gone a long time. The only question is what we're going to do to get it back.
